Beauty
Saturday, January 30th, 2010I look at my child sleeping so peacefully in his bed and wonder how something so beautiful could ever have come from us. So glad that God chose to bless us with this little person He created and loves.

Be still, my soul: the Lord is on your side.
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
leave to your God to order and provide;
in every change God faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: your best, your heavenly friend
through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
Be still, my soul: your God will undertake
to guide the future, as in ages past.
Your hope, your confidence let nothing shake;
all now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know
the Christ who ruled them while he dwelt below.
Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on
when we shall be forever with the Lord,
when disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
sorrow for forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past,
all safe and blessed we shall meet at last.
I think the Little Bug’s stomach has grown to a full five-gallon capacity since yesterday. He is most literally insatiable and unwilling to sleep unless it involves eating. Sigh. Maybe these 10 ounces of pumped milk will do the trick…
Our little over-achiever took four steps tonight with Daddy holding his hands! I know walking is an instinctive thing that babies can do even at this young age, but it was pretty cool. His legs are strong enough to hold his weight, he’s just super wobbly. So cute!
In the stillness of the afternoon, napping baby in the other room and cups of hot tea beside us, Tim and I sit down to look over our past few financial statements from our mission and think about where the next few months might take us.
I don’t know how God in his goodness has blessed us with so much: a place to live, a car to drive, a healthy and growing little boy, Tim surviving his accident with minimal damage, wonderful new friends, new financial givers who support what we do at Málaga Media Center, and so much more.
Each day is a blessing; He who is the author of days is likewise the author of blessings. Praise His name.
