Feria in Town

The local feria (fair) is in town! Every city has one, it seems; the larger cities have much larger events, but even in our area there are at least two that take place in July, not to mention the official Málaga feria in August.

Expensive feria food, flamenco dancing, live music, fair rides with loud pulsing music and flashing lights…all a part of the yearly fair. The experience is kind of overwhelming at first, but if you can find a seat near one of the performance stages, the music and dancing is well worth a visit.

The noise, however, can be a bit much. Even though we live quite a ways away, sound does carry! Every night we hear voices from the loudspeakers, and even music. I can’t imagine living right next door to the fairgrounds!!

The partying usually starts in the evening and carries on well into the early hours of the morning for each day of the feria.

Ministry Update - July 18

The pilot episode for our new series was finished last week! It is now under review, and once we’re all back from summer trips we will resume work on the series as a whole.
Many of the staff at MMC go places during the summer, and this year almost all of us are going to be together at a conference for one week in August. For that conference, I’ve been given the job of preparing some of the printed materials: small booklets, schedules, name tags and the like. I made sure to have some supplies ordered for the printer today, which should be here by the time we need to print everything next week.
Tim gave a presentation on Wednesday at our MMC team meeting about the new company intranet that is available, and how everyone can access it. One person I talked to said that Tim is like our very own Steve Jobs (someone in charge of a big computer company) when he goes up in front of everyone to show off what’s new and available. I guess that’s a pretty big complement!
We are putting together a prayer letter right now, and making plans for our return home early next year to raise support. Please pray for us as we plan and try to seek God’s will.

Ministry Update - July 10

Tim received his Spanish driver’s license in the mail this week!
The video studio team has been working on a pilot episode for a new series of Arabic programs, called “Music and Word.” It will be featuring music videos, Bible readings and commentaries, along with the occasional poem or prayer. My responsibility is the creation of the intro, outro, banners, titles, etc. Tim and I have been working together to make a majority of it in 3d; since he’s had more experience in Blender (the 3d program) than I have, I’m really thankful that he’s had the chance to get involved. I suppose we make a good team.
My brother has been here in southern Spain, studying Spanish for five weeks. The other week we had a chance to take a trip together to North Africa for a couple of days. It was an interesting experience, but worth the chance to see up close the country and people we are reaching through media.
Last week and over this past weekend we’ve had the chance to put the increased space of our new home to use! In three days we hosted three different people in our spare room. Thank God that we did get a sofa bed! I love having the space to open our home to others in need.
