Here’s an update on a Monday for a change!

• A team from Sherwood Bible Church in Kansas City is here for a little over a week, and I’m to be working with them on putting some ideas together for a “recruitment” video. Today I spent time brainstorming with them and exploring some possible ideas, although I’m hoping we will have a few more tomorrow. There are six from the church college group (whom I am working with) while another four on the team will be doing other odd jobs around MMC, such as fixing the door to the video building. (YES!)
• Tonight is MMC’s annual New Years Eve party, with the famous treasure hunt. I think we’ll mostly play games and have snacks until the big countdown at midnight. The Spanish New Years Eve tradition is to eat twelve grapes - one with each toll of the clock striking 12 - and have them all in your mouth by the end of the twelve strikes! It’s not really as hard as it sounds.
• Tim and I went back to the pharmacy this afternoon and picked up the results of his blood test from last week (they said it would take a week or two but it was ready the next day!). We had quite a surprise when we saw that his hemoglobin test (the big test for diabetics that measures blood sugar levels over the past three months) came out much lower than expected - his last test showed it as being 9, while this one said he was 4.7! We’re not really sure what this means, but hopefully when we go back to the doctor he will have some idea.

That’s about all for now, I’m headed to the auditorium, where we’ll be having a time of prayer for Larry and Gwynn before the party starts. They are leaving MMC next week to go back to the States and work for Avant there.

This morning we actually made it to the farmacia (pharmacy) up the road and were able to get Tim’s blood drawn for the analisis (blood test) he needs! Yay!

We were going to go last Friday, but he woke up with low blood sugar and wouldn’t have been able to walk all that way without eating anything. (To have an accurate blood test, you can’t eat anything or take any insulin the morning of the test.) Then we tried again on Monday the 24th, but the person who draws the blood wasn’t in that day, so they told us to come back after Christmas.

Then we intended to go on Wednesday the 26th, until we realized that the huge Christmas dinner we ate wasn’t the best for his blood sugar (it went really high that night), and we decided to wait until today. And praise God he woke up with normal levels and we were able to go and get it taken care of!

Now we’ll wait a week or two until they call to say the results are in.

It was our first as a married couple, and we had a nice time in the morning with just us and our kitten, and some presents that our families sent back with Tim when he was there in November.

We went to church around noon (we go to an English-speaking church, and it is customary for the British to go to church on Christmas morning) then came back to Málaga in time to have Christmas dinner with friends from MMC in the afternoon. (more…)

Praise God that Tim’s blood sugar levels have been much better today! For the past week or so they have been very erratic, and almost never within the normal range when he tested his blood.

We decided not to go to the doctor this afternoon, but we will try to go tomorrow. He still needs to get checked out but for the time being it seems that the crisis has subsided.

Continue praying that his levels will remain under control. Thank you for your prayers.

• The new server is up and running! Tim and his IT accomplice-in-crime both worked long hours over the weekend to install the new server. Over the week they’ve been “working out the kinks” in the system and it seems to be working well. Since changing over the server, they’ve begun installing the new network phone system, and will be working it in slowly. At the moment they have two of the IP phones hooked up in their office, and have been testing them and configuring settings on the phone system, preparing for when the rest of the phones are distributed.
• Tim is also working with Eber on the website for the Ahora Que discipleship project, and has come up with some good ideas of how to put the site together. Pray for continued ideas and insight, as well as good communication among those working on the project.
• Earlier this week I finished capturing the tapes of the Back to the Time of Jesus Arabic TV series. I can now begin the process of editing the footage together into individual programs.
• I’ve started putting together a video for Gayle, our director Dan’s wife, who has been asked by one of their supporting churches for a video about what she does here at MMC. Over the past few week’s I’ve accompanied her to videotape some of the regular things she does during the day, and have now captured the footage and begun the editing process.
• Today I put the final touches on our most recent prayer letter! I’m so happy it’s (finally) finished! At first we had some trouble knowing what to write, but once we did write something I then had trouble getting it all to fit! I plan to send it out by email next week, so if you would like to receive it but aren’t on my mailing list, let me know.

That’s all for now… Tim and I have to go downtown tonight to put some much-needed saldo (credit) on our phone before it decides to expire from lack of attention! Have a good weekend.
