Why the silence:
Saturday, October 28th, 2006I haven’t been updating because I’ve been working. Constantly.
Deadline Monday.

Finally! “Rain in Spain” is more than just a silly rhyme!
This is the first real rain we’ve had since one downpour in the beginning of September.
Rainy conditions, added to lots and lots of general road work, during the same time all the kids are getting out of school, amounts to a really long wait for the bus! (As I found out this afternoon.) Going shopping by bus in the rain makes for an adventure at the least, but now I can once again have some food in my house.
The rain is also preventing me from testing the internet set-up at my house…which unexplicably stopped working a few days ago. So until it works again, no internet at my house.
And… I’ve heard that my house has a tendency to flood, so pray that it won’t!
Five days of shooting - finished!
Now all I want to do is relax for a while.. and I’m sure everyone else involved feels the same.
Now that we’re back to reality, I’ve had some time to upload a few pictures to my flickr site; I know it’s been a while since I last did that.
And somehow, even with a week’s extension, I still have yet to do any Spanish homework for Monday. Better get on that.
This week (October 16-20) we are holed up in the studio, shooting 36 Arabic programs - in five days!
Pretty much everyone at MMC who can help out at all is roped into an appearance of some sort: either in the studio (running cameras), the control room (switcher, cues, teleprompter, audio, tape logging), the offices (capturing footage), or the kitchen (cooking/catering); and for one long week, the “regular work” is put on hold.
I’m running Camera 2, just like I did for the last video shoot we had a few months ago. My job consists of standing with the camera, changing the shots, listening to the director through my headset as he makes jokes over the intercom, and trying not to laugh because any noise will be picked up on the presenter’s, or “talent’s,” microphone.
