On the baby’s “due date” we decided we had waited long enough to take maternity photos. Although “due dates” are assigned by the inexact science of pregnancy, knowing we’d reached the 40-week mark made it even more real that the baby could come “at any time” and we might not have another chance to photograph us while it’s still inside.

Since we’d neglected to arrange for a photographer to help, and it was kind of a spur of the moment thing anyway, we went ahead and had a little photo shoot by ourselves in our backyard with my Nikon D70. I am much more comfortable being behind the camera than in front of it, but Tim did a great job with the photography, and thanks to our new tripod we even have a few shots of the two of us together. After the baby is born we do want to get someone to help us take family photos, though. It would be much easier than using the tripod, especially without a remote.

So in the meantime, we’re still here, waiting on our little one to make its appearance, and enjoying the last few hours/days/weeks together as just the two of us. All I know is, this baby better come before Thanksgiving!

I’m beginning to work long distance on a new design project for MMC. The writer and editor are in Málaga, and I’m in California!

We’re going to be coming up with some new brochures for MMC, one of them with the purpose of recruitment. Our writer had a great visual idea for the brochure that really stuck with me after she described it. A seed in the ground, a seed sprouting when watered, and the result of a growing plant; each stage visually representing Media, Partnership, and Growth, to describe the ministry of Málaga Media Center. We want to get the idea across that MMC is more than just a media ministry, but is actively involved in church planting through both media AND partnership with in-country believers.

The cool thing is, as I was thinking of ideas for the brochure, my little basil plant started sprouting! What a great visual right here at home to connect me with the whole purpose of MMC as a catalyst for church growth.

Ever feel like you’re going nowhere?

• There have been a lot of comings and goings over the past week! The team left, Larry and Gwynn left, then Mikell and Renee arrived, as well as Linda (short termer for one year). It is nice to have a few new faces around, but also sad that some of the others have gone. It is hard to see Larry and Gwynn’s empty house on MMC property and not expect them to be there!
• Now that the team has gone, I’m left with all the ideas for a recruitment video, and now have to put it together and make it happen. They got a lot of the research and footage gathering out of the way, so hopefully it won’t be too much trouble to put things together from there.
• The Arabic TV series I started editing - Back to the Time of Jesus - was put on hold while the team was here, so now I can resume my work on that. Some of the audio wasn’t matching up with the video we have to go with it, so it will take a bit of work to figure out where to make the edits that are needed - with my limited understanding of Arabic!

This picture was taken in California, before we left for Spain. A few people were asking if we had any pictures that were a little more recent … this is probably the best, most recent picture we have (that is not a wedding photo).
